Why house/plant/pet sitting and caretaking works for us and our clients

Since 2001, we have mainly divided our time between England and the South of Spain. We have enjoyed this somewhat nomadic lifestyle, which included regular trips to care-take a property belonging to an associate who had relocated to Asia. In 2010, badly planned works to repair roads and install pipes on the development where we were living resulted in us emailing friends and contacts to enquire whether anyone needed a house sitting service, in order to gain some respite from the noise, dirt and disruption. We were astounded by the response, and from this initial contact, plus a small advertisement in a local paper, we were quickly booked up for most of 2010, and for several months in 2011 too. For example, people have told us that they want to ensure their properties are secure and well maintained during their absences, and that any problems, such as water leaks, are reported and dealt with in a timely manner. It is also convenient for them to have someone to keep their property aired, and pools maintained during the summer, or to keep homes heated and pipes free of ice during winter, thus avoiding damage and deterioration. Others want to feel confident that their beloved pets can remain in their homes during their families’ absences, sometimes where there are special requirements for the pets’ care.

We see this as the way forward for us for the immediate future, allowing us to visit new places and meet new people, generating a modest income while we grow our other business enterprises.
We would be delighted to discuss your requirements and to speak by telephone or in person if this is convenient. References are available.
